Having played the original Half-Life to death as a child, it's a great feeling to finally add the second title to my 'finished' shelve. I especially liked the lame jokes and puns as well as the most-of-the-time witty remarks.Īll in all I feel like this series is amazing and holds up to today's standards, even surpassing them sometimes. Her shots actually hit and cause damage and her personality is great. And truth be told, Alex is probabil the best AI controlled companion I've seen in a linear single-player game.
It's also the fact that the story has such a sense of urgency that added to the overall enjoyment of the game. It's basically a progression of different sections that combine gameplay elements such as combat, platforming and light puzzling, managing to introduce something fresh (or at least different enough in order to keep it interesting) each time. However, that also means that the repetitiveness is kept at a minimum. My main problem with it is that it was very short (it took me 3 hours and 15 minutes to beat it on the hardest difficulty). I thoroughly enjoyed this expansion (if I can call it that).
